Essential Oils

As a child and well into my 20s, catching a cold meant I’d develop an ear infection that landed me in the doctor’s office several times a year. When the pain and pressure reached its peak, I’d be knocked out for days with a rigorous course of antibiotics and ear drops to the rescue (which by that point felt a little like firefighters rushing too late to the blaze).

In 2013, with my chronic ear issues in mind, I attended a gathering hosted by two dōTERRA Wellness Advocates to learn about essential oils. They recommended lavender oil, applied to the skin around and behind my ears at the first sign of discomfort; easy preventative care to help stop the spark of a flame in its tracks. And I’ll admit, it all seemed too simple and intuitive to my weary sinuses – until I curbed my next ear infection, then the next, then the next, and my doctor visits drastically decreased.

For years, lavender was my only essential oil. It wasn’t until I began my wellness journey in 2018 that I’d be introduced to an abundance of ways to support my physical and emotional well-being beyond my activities or the food on my plate.
