Kind Body & Spirit was founded by Philly Brentnall, a music industry professional & wellness journeyer living in Los Angeles.
The path that led me to a healthier mind, body, and spirit began with kindness.
I’ve lost over 60 lbs. I didn’t set out with a specific weight-loss goal, or even to lose weight at all; I’d tried several diets and meal plans since a sudden weight gain at age 13, each to varying success but never sustained any progress, and at some point I stopped trying at all.
In early 2018 I left my longtime job to start a dream gig that meant I could work from home. At the time I felt like the changing professional season presented an opportunity to focus on personal goals I’d allowed myself to ignore, especially those pertaining to my health. I started cooking nutritious meals at home and paying attention to ingredients, going for walks during the workday, staying hydrated, taking vitamins and supplements, seeing a therapist, and journaling about it all. Without even realizing at first, my body began to change.
When someone asks about my “weight-loss journey,” I often sense their hope for a program or product that will make losing weight easier. But for me, real change only happened when I learned how to fuel (not just feed) my body and committed to a different lifestyle than the one I’d been living (or surviving). Ultimately, I chose kindness – for both my mind and body – for a change.
What some call a wellness journey has actually been, for me, a kindness journey.

About Me

I’ve worked in artist management for 10+ years, specializing in digital marketing and fan engagement for a wide array of musicians & bands. I love live events – concerts, musicals, plays, and performances. I also enjoy taking photographs, cooking and baking, wandering, and time spent in the company of dogs.
About This Site
Kind Body & Spirit began as an Instagram account exploring topics like body image, weight, and wellness.
I had spinal surgery in 2006 and spent a long time making excuses for why I didn't take better care of myself. I created this space to share stories and connect with anyone who feels like a path to wellness is inaccessible to them, as I did for so many years. I've experienced how small changes can make a huge difference for both our mind and body – and that kindness, for ourselves and each other, goes a long way.
